I went to the opening of the new “I Am 8-Bit” show last night with my friend Bob. Bob is into some of the artists, so we figured we’d just drop by, not expecting the extraordinarily long line out front. It took almost 45 minutes to get inside, and then we had to inch our way around the gallery, which was filled to the brim with video game nerds, art lovers, and everyone in between.
There were at least three news reports being shot for video-gamed themed premium cable channels you’ve never heard of. They have some some fun pieces up, and it’s definitely worth checking out– it’ll be up at Gallery 1988 on Melrose until May 12th. Here are some pictures from the event.

| A portion of the line outside. You’d think they were promised free Pinkberry. |

| This was my favorite painting.

| This work is entitled “8-Bit Tit”.

| An unflattering shot of Bob.

| “SWAT vs. AIDS” Hilarious!

I wanted to go to that soooo bad. Nothing cool like that happens in Washington State. I guess I’ll have to settle for looking at your rad photos and watching for coverage on gametrailers.com and g4tv.
he’s wearing an 8-bit (the band’s) t-shirt! they are johnston alumni (johnston being where i go to school, the specific program i am in).
that art show is fucking sick, i love it!
oh man, thats incredible. I wish I could see it.
I’d like this place better if it wasn’t funded by Disney, but they keep putting on fun shows like this one, so there can’t be too much harm done. Right?
Crazy, I didn’t realize it was funded by Disney… the gallery itself?
ah… the power glove:)
