There’s a lot of fun shit going down in the next couple of weeks, and I’ve got it all laid out for you in a handy table right below the jump. Miranda July, Patrick Wolf, Brian De Palma, apocalyptic movie screenings, rockin’ dance parties, and more!
Also, check out Miranda’s awesome lo-fi website advertising her new book.

British wunderkind musician Patrick Wolf is playing at The Troubadour. I included his track “Get Lost” from the new album The Magic Position in Podcast #6.
The show is only $12, and who knows how long it will be before this temperamental mastermind decides to stop performing for good– he recently threatened to do just that in an angry message board posting. So go now before he’s gone!

One of my favorite theaters in Los Angeles, The New Beverly, is showing a double feature of two truly excellent Brian De Palma films, Dressed to Kill and Body Double. I wrote aboutBody Double just a few weeks ago, and it’s a true overlooked masterpiece that needs to be seen to be believed.
So come see it on the big screen– with another classic masterpiece– for a total of only $7.00!
May 20th + 21st
The New Beverly is showing another great double feature, Night of the Comet and Miracle Mile. I must say, I definitely wrote down that very double feature in their suggestion book last fall, so you can all thank me for bringing such rad apocalyptic 80’s movies back to the big screen. ;)
Night of the Comet is a wonderful teen sci-fi thriller about an alien comet that wipes out most of humanity, except for a few valley girls who decide to go shopping at the abandoned mall– only to be attacked by mutant zombies! Um, what could be better than that? Just one thing. Miracle Mile, which I wrote about in an entry only a few weeks ago.
Woo hoo! I want to go see Night of the Comet. Thanks!!!!
