electroma, huh?
i was excited until i got the general idea of what it’s supposed to be, which kind of dampened it. the fact that everyone i know had endless contempt for it didnt help.
i still want to see it, tho.
loved no country for old men so much i saw it three times at the theatre, which i haven’t done since ever. hated grindhouse though. i still need to see the host, sunshine, and of course, there will be blood.
lauren and i really can’t wait for it. the soundtrack is crazy good.

Awesome list! I really really loved No Country For Old Men and lots of others from your list. Year of the Dog was so sad, but amazing. Sicko, Grindhouse, Superbad, Knocked Up (so what if I am obsessed with Mr. Rogen), Juno, Paprika…. all two thumbs up.
I can’t wait for There Will Be Blood. And I am definitely going to check out Electroma and The Host as well…. And I still haven’t seen the Simpsons movie either.
great picks! i loved margot at the wedding out of all of those, i hafta say! but juno? i thought that movie was pretty suck-tastic. i also happened to really like ratatouille out of the many in 2007.
also have you seen wild tigers i have known? am curious as to what you thought about it if you did.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=KikTHJ9fUlA
Great images…don’t recognize several of them unfortunately.
I can’t believe I forgot about Wild Tigers! Added it to the list :)
heres an idea. why the fuck couldn’t you just put the damn titles with the films instead of having us click on every single picture, asshole?
Heres a better idea. don’t be such an angry poohead. Nice list, i thought The Host was such a great movie, glad to see it on here.
and here’s yet another better idea…except for Daft Punk’s Electoma, if you hover over any of the images, the link shows up in the status bar, and the name of the movie can be easily read from the url
For instance, http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/superbad/
learn to use the internet asshole
You obviously haven’t seen This Is England then, otherwise that would be top of the list!
I liked Hot Fuzz a lot too. Also loved Juno, and I really want to see No Country for Old Men.
sunshine?
i would have put that as the worst film of the year
aaron?
i would have put that guy as the biggest douche bag of the year
Sunshine was awesome.
There Will Be Blood was the best movie released in the past 5 years. Hands down.
you have good taste. you liked a lot of the same movies i did. the host was pretty amazing. i still have to see there will be blood :\
There Will Be Blood was the most over hyped, long winded piece of contemptuous crap I have EVER seen. That movie should be burned at the stake. Otherwise… list gets a 7/10..
that first photo makes me think “CHILDHOOD MARILYN MANSON”
I think I’m the only one to notice it’s on the list, but I’m Not There looks so awesome.
Love your list, but my favourite movie of the year has been Across The Universe
I thought grindhouse was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
Good list. I really want to see the host now.
Awesome list.
I plan on watching every one of these I haven’t seen.
I’m also glad when other people love Knocked Up, it was great, and it seems that it’s one of those either you hate it or you love it movies.
hey hardyharhar, if you don’t appreciate There Will Be Blood then you have absolutely no sense of a well-made film, and no ability to recognize quality acting. Daniel Day Lewis shows that he very well may one of the best actors ever in that movie and you’re an immature fucktard if you don’t recognize that he and the movie are genious. You suck at life.
Across the universe should be on there, it was amazing.
but I do agree with the majority of your choices.
“learn to use the internet asshole”
Posted by commonsense on March 11th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Seriously…..who doesn’t know how to use the internet asshole? It is much better than any other asshole in use.
Also, learn to use a comma.
Well, I learned something new, so thank you CommonSense(:
Darjeeling Express?
Awsome list!!
I’ve seen quite a few of those, but I’m still working on the others. Also I’ve checked your 2006 list and it’s great too, I’m also checking out quite a few from those.
Hey nice job. A lot of those play at a local independent films theater i work at. Some I haven;t been so privileged to see.
No Darjeeling Limited? Travesty! I thought that was definitely one of my favorites. I would even put it above No Country.
That Brand Upon the Brain looks very interesting.
How have I never heard of a lot of these?
good list but why couldn’t you put the names on the site? i don’t want to watch all the trailers… could you just have the names under the pics or something?
Hot Fuzz is awesome… one of the most overlooked movies. Go see it now!!!!!!
I never get tired of the variety and range of opinions that people express. My opinion: nice work – I liked Superbad, Knocked Up, Sunshine, Grind House. The Simpsons movie was OK. I’m looking forward to watching: No Country for Old Men, Juno, There Will be Blood. I’ve ordered The Host and Paprika. I agree that Across the Universe was excellent.
I really disliked the forced indie comedy “Rocket Science,” but so may of your other faves were also on my Top list of 2007. Props for selecting “Zodiac,” a film that was criminally overlooked (no pun intended) just because Paramount mounted no Oscar campaign whatsoever. Here’s my Best of 2007 List if you’re interested. (http://www.scene-stealers.com/top-10/erics-top-10-movies-of-2007/)
Great post, keep up the good work!
Nice done! I picked a lot of the films you have in your top 22, and will have to see the ones that I’ve missed.
A very good list i just want to ask if someone can tell me why juno is always there and why diablo cody won an oscar. I sat through that movie while barely being able to crack a smile. Not a single chuckle or titter did that film raise from me. I’m not saying it was offensive to me, just that it wasn’t funny to me. Great premise and cast that just turned a potential Superbad or Knocked Up into Leonard part VI. It was too safe and sugar coated to be truly funny or even a good movie. I wouldnt even pirate this film for fear my hard drive would commit seppuku due to the dishonor of storing that steaming pile in any format. In my opinion this movie was just bolstered by the buzz and fear that by not liking it somehow you are not hip. For the love L Ron Hubbard someone help me understand because thinking about Juno being popular makes me fear for the next generations growing up thinking movies like that are acceptable.
Legendary screenwriter (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull) and director (American Gigilo, Affliction, Auto Focus) PAUL SCHRADER spoke to the internet radio show Movie Geeks United! about why he believes the motion picture medium as we know it is dead. He also shared insights into his latest film ‘Adam Resurrected’, directing a drunken George C. Scott, working with Criterion on a remastered ‘Mishima’, and why he believes ‘The Big Lebowski’ is one of the top fifty films of all time.

I disagree with whoever said Rocket Science sucked. I have to see it again now that you mention it. Good list!
I chopped off my weiner a few months back, replaced it with a caterpillar–the hairy kind. Well, over the weeks, it cocooned, and just last night it spread its wings and my weenie took flight. Fare the well good weenie! Fare thee well.
I’ve only seen a couple of those. A small description after each image would be better anyway. :)
rocket science is a great movie
